Can you handle one final red lip? How about three more? Yes? Okay, let’s get this party started!
In my book, Christmas time is synonymous with red lips. It’s just so classic. But I have great disdain for the hassle that comes with keeping it looking freshly applied. After talking, drinking, eating, and kissing my beau under the mistletoe, my red lips start looking more like a smeared, red blob than the perfect red pout I started with.
I roamed many cosmetic aisles to bring you a variety of finishes of long-lasting, transfer-free red lip products; And I must say I found some pretty good ones! These aren’t new products by any means but two are new to my collection and I’m completely in love. While the colors are perfect for this time of year, the formula and longevity, specifically the two L’oreal products, are what really impressed me.
I don’t know why it took me so long to try the L’oreal Infallible line but I’m so glad I finally did. This is 100% smudge-proof! If you want a lip product with slight shine that’s long-lasting, this is it right here (I had to use my oil-free make-up remover to take this color off). I highly recommend this line of lip products if you want to eat, drink and smooch all night long.
You can’t mention red lipsticks without giving a shout-out to MAC’s Ruby Woo. Everyone raves about it, and for good reason. The color is the most beautiful, vibrant, matte red that ever existed (Ya, I went there). Because of it’s matte finish there will be very little transfer, if any at all, when you give a quick peck on the cheek or you take a drink from your glass. Yes it’s a bit tough to work with but the end result is so worth it and the color is universal.
If you’re over the whole matte trend, this gloss is for you. I never thought it’d be possible to go glossy and budge-proof but this product is no joke. First application is quite sheer so you have to apply several coats in order to get the color this deep. For every coat give time to dry before you apply the next or it will clump. I kept kissing the back of my hand to make sure it was working like it said it would and I got very little transfer – unheard of for a gloss!
I have one more red to share with you today. It isn’t transfer-free but it sure is pretty- It’s NYX Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in Pure Red. If you’re looking for a POW, in-your-face, orange-red, your search is over.
*For every application, I outlined my lips with NYX Cosmetics Retractable Lip Liner in Red*
Did I miss your favorite red lipstick or smear-proof formula? Let me know all about it!!
