4 Realistic Habits To Ensure A Productive Week

We can probably all agree that Mondays are the worst. It’s back to the grind for most people and it’s just a drag to go back to work after a weekend with friends and family, or simply relaxing.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Like many things in life, Mondays are what you make of them. You can either let them rule you or you can rule them. And if you’re like me, you like to do the ruling not the other way around!

Since lately I’ve been chatting a lot about changing my outlook on life and thinking more positively, I thought I’d share 4 realistic habits to ensure a productive week I’ve been incorporating to my every day life.

Key word: “realistic” because the thing with change is that it can’t be drastic and it can’t be impractical or else it doesn’t stick – at least for me. And I’d like productive weeks to stick!

Change The Way You Feel and Talk About Monday

If you’re someone who constantly gripes about the Monday blues, then you’re setting your day/week up for failure.

Instead of dreading Mondays, change your mindset and look at them as a fresh start. Focus on kicking butt at work, school – whatever it may be – and it will give you a new sense of accomplishment and excitement for a productive week.

Don’t Go On Social Media First Thing In the Morning

I am SO guilty of grabbing my phone first thing in the morning and scrolling through my Instagram feed! It’s a dark hole that quickly spirals out of control so now I’m starting to designate time each day for social media. Not only can this negatively affect your mood but it can take valuable time away from your day and set you behind right off the bat.

I’ve been researching this option as a morning routine instead.

Prep Yourself For The Week Ahead On Sunday

It’s kinda annoying how often people say this but it’s true – writing things down will help you remember them better. It doesn’t have to be Sunday per say, but take any downtime during the weekend to lay out the week ahead and prioritize your tasks. This way you know your free time and you don’t waste valuable moments doing nothing when you could have been completing a deadline,

On the same token, I have shows I like to watch and knowing that maybe Sunday night is Game of Thrones night (you betcha it’s in my calendar!) reminds me that Sunday nights are for downtime. I prep so that I don’t end up dipping into my “me” time and miss out on fun things I want to do too.

You mean, give up control? LOL I say this because this might be the toughest thing for me to do. Delegate! I like to do everything myself because otherwise it won’t get done right. Newsflash: If you have a team working with you or for you then you probably had some say in who those individuals are. So trust your judgement! You chose to work with these people so they must know what they’re doing and can help elevate your workload.

Same goes if you’re a stay-out-home mom, have a project you’re working on at school – whatever it may be – use the people around you and assign tasks they can easily help you with. This will free up your time for things only you can do it and help ensure a productive week.

These are such great tips! I need to be better at delegating. I’m pretty good about planning, but I too often don’t ask for help and then resent when everything falls on my shoulders.

    • Delegating is the toughest for me. But it really helps to let go a little!

  • Jamie Lynn

First off, really cute dress! There are some of these that I already do. One is I don’t check my phone first thing int he morning. But that is mainly because I am not a morning person and it takes me so long to get ready for work in the morning, I can’t spare a single second!! I am currently trying out a planner. I got one from Me And My Big Ideas. I am using it to help me remember deadlines and appointments. They also have a whole line of stickers so it helps get some crafty time in also!!

    • Oooo I’ll have to look into that planner! I love writing things down because it helps me remember better!

  • darling you look so fabulous in that dress! awesome, cool and lovely tips! thanks!

    • Thanks Courtney!

  • Such good tips! Can I be honest, I do my first hour of work from bed (eeeek) probably not the best approach but at least I don’t feel rushed. It’s also the nice thing about working from home, but sometimes it means I don’t get out of my PJs until noon on Mondays. Haha.
