I’m not going to lie and say spring has finally sprung in good ol’ Connecticut because IT.HAS.NOT! I mean just now I’m listening to the ghostly wind swirl outside my window and the pitter-patter of rain hit the gravel. Not to mention there was snow on the ground about two weeks ago so ya, I’d say we have some time to kill before pretty flowers bloom around us (I’m not bitter).
In my mind though, it’s spring because I’m done with layers and dreary weather so I’ve been dressing the part. And I gotta say I’m loving all the new spring trends popping up. They’re fun, they’re chic, and combine the best of street style with a sophisticated feminine touch all while coming together for a polished look.
Ripped Boyfriend Jeans
One of my go-to’s lately has been mixing casual pieces, like boyfriend jeans, with heels. It brings a different feel to the look and it’s a quick way to go from running errands to grabbing lunch with the girls without missing a chic beat!
Exposed shoulder tops are making a comeback and I couldn’t think of anything sexier! This peek-a-boo trend is one I’ve always loved so I’m glad to see it back on the spotlight.
I love a good statement necklace but if I had to choose I would go dainty jewels all day every day. From layering necklaces to sporting a couple delicate rings, I love the soft airy feel of simple jewelry.
This isn’t a fashion trend hitting the runway anytime soon but it sure does make me happy. I’m about 5’1 on a good day so I’ve always been that girl who wears heels or wedges to everything. My converse just add effortless street style to what otherwise would be a head to toe girly look.
Soft pinks, camels and grays are ruling my world right now. They’re the most sophisticated shades to play with and embody such femininity and soft glamour.
Speaking of pastels, they’re my favorite colors to wear from head to toe when I want to go for a monochromatic look. There’s nothing wrong with wearing a single hue to stand out, in fact I find it just as striking as using bold shades.
Is this considered a fashion trend? Nevertheless I’ve been lusting over lobs since I made the switch from brunette to blonde. For years I’ve been a long hair gal but lately chopping off my locks has been on my mind 24/7. Who knows, you might see a change coming soon!
THE ONE TO SKIP
When I think of slip dresses I can’t help but think of that Friends episode where Rachel is finally with Joshua but his parents walk in and find her in her nighty. She tries to play it off saying it’s a new dress she’s testing out for work and ends up having to wear it to dinner where she has a wardrobe malfunction. The horror! Besides that, slip dresses are really hard to pull off. They accentuate EVERYTHING and leave room for no error. If you can rock a dress like this then do it honey but for me it’s a pass.
