I’m no expert here but I have learned a few things about marriage since becoming a wifey in 2012. Like many things, I probably wasn’t the best at it at first – I still have my shortcomings but let’s be honest I’m practically perfect at it now 😉 LOL. Learning from some great couples around us and really stepping back and looking at the whole picture has helped me gain a lot of perspective on what it takes to build a marriage. It’s definitely not easy – it’s constant work, work from both sides. And for us we’ve had time to just grow together because we haven’t expanded the family just yet (Oh that will be a learning curve! A welcomed learning curve 🙂 ).
Effortless is the name of the game with this look. I’ve been loving the t-shirt dress trend lately because it’s comfy but chic, especially when done with suede. With Valentine’s Day coming up, I thought it’d be the perfect piece to go from office gal to Galentine’s Day.. or really for any time you have plans after work and little time to change.
Galentine’s Day is one of my favorite traditions around Valentine’s Day – it’s when a group of single (or taken) friends get together on February 13th and celebrate their friendship. It really should be Galentine’s Day every day! Did you know this unofficial holiday came from a Parks and Rec episode? I had no clue. But I thank them because I love any excuse to get together with my favorite ladies and forget about every day life for a bit.
Lucky you if you’re reading this in 85 degree weather. Enjoy your perfect day, with perfect sunshine, wearing your perfect t-shirt.. I’m not bitter 😉 I, on the other hand, am surrounded by snow here in good ol’ Connecticut. I think if I actually took pics of what I’ve worn this past week you’d think I was in a different state every day. The weather has been seriously bonkers!
This up and down weather got me thinking about skin care and how it’s so necessary to take care of our skin accordingly. I know many of us have a set routine we love but during the colder months it’s so important to give our skin some extra T.L.C. For me the area around my mouth gets dry and flaky, making it almost impossible to apply foundation smoothly. To keep it from happening this year I’ve been following these tips religiously and thought I’d share them with you today.
Now that we’re well into January you might be feeling those fitness resolution blues. Maybe you got a gym membership and went four times the first week and twice this past week, but this week is looking super busy so who knows if you’ll be able to make it. If this isn’t you and you’re still going strong I applaud you but if it is, this post is for you!
In 2016 I embraced minimal eye makeup, gave nude eyeliner a try (and loved it!), focused more on complexion, and fell in love with face oils. I really stuck to what worked for me and rarely stepped away from warm neutrals and clean makeup. Some might think that’s boring but it really allowed me to find stand out products that are now holy grail status.
My favorites in beauty and skincare of 2016 is made up of products I wouldn’t dream of going without. Many of them you’ve seen in previous posts and some are completely brand new. They’re helped streamline my beauty routine and many times helped me get a few more minutes of sleep in the morning knowing I had products I could count on! Keep reading for my stand outs! Maybe you’ll find some future favorites too!
Hello 2017! So happy to meet you! I’ve been waiting.. not so patiently lol. If I’m being completely honest I couldn’t wait for 2016 to be over. Let’s just say it was not my year! It wasn’t a bad year by any means but I had grander plans for it. I was reading the goals I set for myself in my last post of 2015 and I basically achieved about half lol. But I’m not upset. For the first time in awhile I learned more about myself through my failures than my successes. It was a hard lesson but I’m thankful for it. And even though it’s corny I’ve always loved the new year for its ability to make me feel motivated and excited about the future.
My husband likes to joke that New Year’s is my favorite holiday. I get so excited during the countdown that you’d think I was counting down to my birthday! I think I love New Year’s so much because it’s a chance to reset the button on all the things that didn’t work out so well and, by the same token, a motivation to continue working hard on the things that are. I also LOVE getting dolled up for the night. I don’t think any rules apply when choosing an outfit but I do think there are products that can help your night run smoothly.
Trying to find the perfect New Year’s outfit is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. Every year I ask myself if it’s going to be the year I finally take the sequins plunge (doubtful) and how I’m going to stay warm but still look cute. The struggle is real when you live in Connecticut!
The past two years the hubs and I ditched the crazy crowds and stayed home for NYE but I think this year we’re planning on being social again, LOL, so I’ve been looking for an outfit and it dawned on me how LBD’s never fail me. This one in particular has stolen my heart. It’s the perfect black bodycon dress that shows just the right amount of skin. I love that it hugs the body in all the right places. I went with a black clutch because I loved the idea of a monocramic look and I opted for a bold eye look and nude lips!
Christmas is six days away! But who’s counting?! 😉 Seriously it baffles my mind we’re already single digits away from one of my favorite holidays AND the new year is right around the corner. Life please slow down.
Lately my days have been filled with work, squeezing time to shop for gifts and trying to find some quality time with the hubs. With no time to do much I’ve completely neglected to shop for a cute Christmas outfit. Make fun if you must but that’s one of my favorite things to do. Something about putting together an outfit in my mind and finding the perfect pieces to make it come to life makes me so happy, and helps me focus less on all the little stressful things that pop up during this busy time.
There are many things that scream holiday season and red lips are definitely one of them. Some people think they’re overplayed while others love a crimson smile. I personally don’t feel I’ve fully embraced the holidays until I’ve worn my favorite red lipstick.
That’s because when it comes to classic holiday makeup looks, red lips will always top the list. I still remember the first time I wore Mac’s “Ruby Woo.” It was a complete game-changer! If you’ve never fully gotten on board with rouge lipsticks there’s no better time than now. Keep reading for my top three reasons to love red lips this holiday season.

Confession time: The hubs and I have been horrible gift shoppers this year! It’s a serious, cringe-worthy problem that we’ll have to fix ASAP because guess what? Christmas is in less than two weeks! And we’ve purchased one gift. I laugh and cry as a write this LOL.
