It’s official, the hubs and I are headed to Paris! This weekend we finalized our travel plans for the rest of the year (I hinted about it on Instagram) and booked our flights to Europe and Spain. After all, Paris is always a good idea right? I think so too 😉 We’ll be celebrating our 5-year wedding anniversary and counting it as the honeymoon we really never had so this trip has been a long time coming! I’ve already gone Pinterest-crazy, reading every travel guide I come across and pinning restaurant lists and travel tips. Not to mention my favorite bloggers have been spamming my Insta feed with gorgeous Paris photos for #PFW (Paris Fashion Week) so the wanderlust is in full effect.
Connecticut keeps playing with my emotions with its all-over-the-place weather. One minute a light jacket will do the next I’m bundled from head to toe. The little bit of warmer weather has kept me hopeful that warmer days are near. They’ve also inspired me to do a little shopping for the perfect spring pieces – specifically, the perfect spring dress.
What makes a dress the perfect spring dress? It has to have the prettiest floral pattern, feel like nothing on, and sway effortlessly if a gust of wind so happens to swoosh your way. Check, check and check with this navy number.
Hi new and faithful readers! Happy Monday! There’s been a ton of new activity on the blog lately so I thought it’d be the perfect time to re-introduce myself by sharing my everyday casual style and 10 things you probably didn’t know about me.
On a day to day basis my casual style includes jeans, a T-shirt and sneakers (these and these have been on rotation lately). I stick to a pretty neutral palette because I know if I’m in a rush I can mix and match without thinking about it too much. If I’m feeling fancy I’ll add a cute jacket and statement shoes. But really I’m all about comfort these days and love putting together effortless looks.
Happy Monday loves! This past weekend was such a relaxing one with the hubs. I think the snow forced us to take it easy for once. Saturday’s weather wasn’t too bad so we took the opportunity to head to the mall for the afternoon (that’s where we were going in case you caught my awesome lip-synching on InstaStories lol) but Sunday we woke up to tons of snow and stayed home. I definitely did my fair share of vegging out on the couch and watched The Grammy’s and The Walking Dead.
I’m a sucker for feminine, floral dresses – they have an air of romance and sweetness to them, and this one was love at first sight. Last week I was window shopping (well, that’s what I told myself) and I spotted this beauty out of the corner of my eye. I marched myself into Express, tried it on, and left completely smitten and ready for Valentine’s Day.
The dress is suppose to be a “midi” dress but on me it’s full length which works out perfectly. I love that it has a cinched or “smocked” waist because it helps create a more flattering figure, especially since the rest of the dress is flowy. My favorite part is the cute lace-up v-neck that adds just a touch of sexiness to an overall sweet dress. It’s the perfect feminine dress for Valentine’s Day but I can also see myself wearing it to dinner dates or family gatherings.
Looking put together with little effort is an art. When I hear people say “Oh I just threw this on,” more often than not they definitely thought about it a bit and have a reason for their choice of clothing – it’s rarely ever random. The magic is in the fact that they didn’t obsess over every detail and somehow still look incredibly polished.
Effortless is the name of the game with this look. I’ve been loving the t-shirt dress trend lately because it’s comfy but chic, especially when done with suede. With Valentine’s Day coming up, I thought it’d be the perfect piece to go from office gal to Galentine’s Day.. or really for any time you have plans after work and little time to change.
Galentine’s Day is one of my favorite traditions around Valentine’s Day – it’s when a group of single (or taken) friends get together on February 13th and celebrate their friendship. It really should be Galentine’s Day every day! Did you know this unofficial holiday came from a Parks and Rec episode? I had no clue. But I thank them because I love any excuse to get together with my favorite ladies and forget about every day life for a bit.
Hello 2017! So happy to meet you! I’ve been waiting.. not so patiently lol. If I’m being completely honest I couldn’t wait for 2016 to be over. Let’s just say it was not my year! It wasn’t a bad year by any means but I had grander plans for it. I was reading the goals I set for myself in my last post of 2015 and I basically achieved about half lol. But I’m not upset. For the first time in awhile I learned more about myself through my failures than my successes. It was a hard lesson but I’m thankful for it. And even though it’s corny I’ve always loved the new year for its ability to make me feel motivated and excited about the future.
Trying to find the perfect New Year’s outfit is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. Every year I ask myself if it’s going to be the year I finally take the sequins plunge (doubtful) and how I’m going to stay warm but still look cute. The struggle is real when you live in Connecticut!
The past two years the hubs and I ditched the crazy crowds and stayed home for NYE but I think this year we’re planning on being social again, LOL, so I’ve been looking for an outfit and it dawned on me how LBD’s never fail me. This one in particular has stolen my heart. It’s the perfect black bodycon dress that shows just the right amount of skin. I love that it hugs the body in all the right places. I went with a black clutch because I loved the idea of a monocramic look and I opted for a bold eye look and nude lips!
Christmas is six days away! But who’s counting?! 😉 Seriously it baffles my mind we’re already single digits away from one of my favorite holidays AND the new year is right around the corner. Life please slow down.
Lately my days have been filled with work, squeezing time to shop for gifts and trying to find some quality time with the hubs. With no time to do much I’ve completely neglected to shop for a cute Christmas outfit. Make fun if you must but that’s one of my favorite things to do. Something about putting together an outfit in my mind and finding the perfect pieces to make it come to life makes me so happy, and helps me focus less on all the little stressful things that pop up during this busy time.
The year is 2008. Gossip Girl is everywhere and nobody can stop talking about the gorgeous costumes worn by Blake Lively and Leighton Meester aka Serena and Blair. That was my first dose of fashion I wanted to emulate. Serena always looked so effortlessly chic; The ultimate ‘cool girl’ with perfect, undone hair and mismatch patterns that somehow worked. If she was a fashion piece she’d be the moto jacket!
Moto jackets are one of those wardrobe pieces that everyone should own. Whether you’re a man or woman, they work in such an easy way but make a big fashion statement. I like to think of them as timeless yet edgy, kinda like Serena.
