Meet Brandy, my fairy glam-mother, as I like to call her. She’s probably my most fabulous and glamorous friend – and I know a lot of fab women! Why do I want you to know her? Because she’s definitely a #GirlBoss, paving the way for women entrepreneurs in the makeup industry. She’s been in the game for years, from owning her own makeup concierge boutique in New Orleans to working with some of the most high-profile celebrities and directing top print and editorial campaigns.
It’s official, the hubs and I are headed to Paris! This weekend we finalized our travel plans for the rest of the year (I hinted about it on Instagram) and booked our flights to Europe and Spain. After all, Paris is always a good idea right? I think so too 😉 We’ll be celebrating our 5-year wedding anniversary and counting it as the honeymoon we really never had so this trip has been a long time coming! I’ve already gone Pinterest-crazy, reading every travel guide I come across and pinning restaurant lists and travel tips. Not to mention my favorite bloggers have been spamming my Insta feed with gorgeous Paris photos for #PFW (Paris Fashion Week) so the wanderlust is in full effect.
Hi new and faithful readers! Happy Monday! There’s been a ton of new activity on the blog lately so I thought it’d be the perfect time to re-introduce myself by sharing my everyday casual style and 10 things you probably didn’t know about me.
On a day to day basis my casual style includes jeans, a T-shirt and sneakers (these and these have been on rotation lately). I stick to a pretty neutral palette because I know if I’m in a rush I can mix and match without thinking about it too much. If I’m feeling fancy I’ll add a cute jacket and statement shoes. But really I’m all about comfort these days and love putting together effortless looks.
They say “comparison is the thief of joy” and what better time to dive a little further into this saying than while we’re all still recovering from a Valentine’s Day hangover.
I would be lying if I said I never felt the pang of comparison and its little sibling jealousy. I’m a perfectionist, through and through, and I’m particularly hard on myself when I feel I’m not meeting my own expectations. In general, we can all get wrapped up in what others have – feeling either content or disappointed on how we fair. Days like Valentine’s Day don’t help much – everyone’s posting about their happy relationships and extravagant gifts. It’s very easy to feel sad and lose sight of all the good we do have. So what can we do to channel our innate nature and turn it into a positive?
Happy Monday loves! This past weekend was such a relaxing one with the hubs. I think the snow forced us to take it easy for once. Saturday’s weather wasn’t too bad so we took the opportunity to head to the mall for the afternoon (that’s where we were going in case you caught my awesome lip-synching on InstaStories lol) but Sunday we woke up to tons of snow and stayed home. I definitely did my fair share of vegging out on the couch and watched The Grammy’s and The Walking Dead.
Happy Friday guys! Or should I say bottoms up?! 😉 Let’s take a moment and talk about how cute this Pink Lemonade Martini is? My girly side can’t handle it. With Valentine’s Day a few days away and the weekend finally here I thought this pink martini would be the perfect cocktail for celebrating! I always get suckered into trying the cute drinks when I’m out to dinner so I knew I wanted to share something fun, easy and pink.
- 2 oz. Cranberry Juice
- 2 oz. Pink Lemonade
- 1 oz. Citrus Flavored Vodka
- 1 oz. Triple Sec (Or Limoncello)
- Fresh or frozen Cranberries, Raspberries or Lime wedge for garnish
What to get your best friend for Valentine’s Day should be a pretty easy task. After all, you’ve been through it all, know it all, and are still completely obsessed with one another. So why do we get stumped when it comes to shopping for our favorite people in the world?
For me it really boils down to getting it just right – I want to feel like I picked out exactly what they would have picked out had they been in the store with me. Too much pressure? Maybe. But it’s so worth it when they open their gift and love it.
I’m no expert here but I have learned a few things about marriage since becoming a wifey in 2012. Like many things, I probably wasn’t the best at it at first – I still have my shortcomings but let’s be honest I’m practically perfect at it now 😉 LOL. Learning from some great couples around us and really stepping back and looking at the whole picture has helped me gain a lot of perspective on what it takes to build a marriage. It’s definitely not easy – it’s constant work, work from both sides. And for us we’ve had time to just grow together because we haven’t expanded the family just yet (Oh that will be a learning curve! A welcomed learning curve 🙂 ).
Lucky you if you’re reading this in 85 degree weather. Enjoy your perfect day, with perfect sunshine, wearing your perfect t-shirt.. I’m not bitter 😉 I, on the other hand, am surrounded by snow here in good ol’ Connecticut. I think if I actually took pics of what I’ve worn this past week you’d think I was in a different state every day. The weather has been seriously bonkers!
This up and down weather got me thinking about skin care and how it’s so necessary to take care of our skin accordingly. I know many of us have a set routine we love but during the colder months it’s so important to give our skin some extra T.L.C. For me the area around my mouth gets dry and flaky, making it almost impossible to apply foundation smoothly. To keep it from happening this year I’ve been following these tips religiously and thought I’d share them with you today.
Now that we’re well into January you might be feeling those fitness resolution blues. Maybe you got a gym membership and went four times the first week and twice this past week, but this week is looking super busy so who knows if you’ll be able to make it. If this isn’t you and you’re still going strong I applaud you but if it is, this post is for you!
Hello 2017! So happy to meet you! I’ve been waiting.. not so patiently lol. If I’m being completely honest I couldn’t wait for 2016 to be over. Let’s just say it was not my year! It wasn’t a bad year by any means but I had grander plans for it. I was reading the goals I set for myself in my last post of 2015 and I basically achieved about half lol. But I’m not upset. For the first time in awhile I learned more about myself through my failures than my successes. It was a hard lesson but I’m thankful for it. And even though it’s corny I’ve always loved the new year for its ability to make me feel motivated and excited about the future.
