Once upon a time I would have been terrified to wear head-to-toe purple, let alone a jumpsuit! I’ve always been the girl who played it safe and only stuck to neutrals. Basically, I wore what I knew worked. Sounds kinda boring huh? Yes and no.
While I’ll always be a lover of blush and beige tones, I’ve come to embrace the fun side of fashion. I’m a lot more open to experimenting and pulling things off the rack that I would never have tried in my 20’s.
This particular jumpsuit I found on one of my favorite online stores for a wedding my hubs and I just went to. I couldn’t find a dress I loved and thought to search jumpsuits. This one popped up and while it gave me a 70s vibe, I kinda liked it and the more I looked at it the more I wanted it! Plus I figured I’d be swimming in a sea of dresses so why not stand out?
When you dare to step outside your fashion comfort zone you stop limiting yourself from exploring other avenues of who you are. Sounds super intense for fashion talk but I strongly agree that clothes can affect our mood and how we feel. All you have to do is really look back at the times you were “feeling yourself” to realize those days were probably days when the dress fit juuust right.
If you’re still on the fence about trying new styles, I’ve got some tips/thoughts for you below! Just keep scrolling!

IT’S ONLY FOR A DAY
Guys, it’s not that serious. Get out of your head and just try that trend you’ve been eyeing for awhile. If it’s not for you, take it off. Simple as that! The flip side is you just might find a new style you love and looks incredible on you!
STOP THINKING YOU’RE “GOING TO LOOK SILLY”
There’s a huge difference between something not being your style and not trying something because you think it won’t look good on you. If this is the case, you’re letting your fashion comfort zone get in the way of trying a style you love and admire from afar.
Let go of that feeling and believe in your fashion sense because like I said, it’s only for a day! Start small if going all in is too much. Let’s say you want to wear more purple but going full jumpsuit is too extreme. Wear a purple top with jeans and see how you feel. If you like it that’s a hint to take it a step further next time.
WEAR NEW STYLES AROUND STRANGERS
Your close friend’s wedding is not the place to try a new style. Test out a new silhouette or color on a day you’re running errands or just hanging out at home. This is going to give you the opportunity to really see how it makes you feel and if it’s the right style for you. And let’s be honest, if you’re trying it at home you can catch quick glimpses of yourselves when you walk by mirrors which will further help you determine if you like it or not.
I would love to know if you’re someone who always stays inside your fashion comfort zone or if you try new styles all the time?
