My husband and I have been married for five years and known each other for nine! Sometimes it’s crazy to wrap my head around because our life together has truly flown by. He’s known me through my entire 20’s and life before “we” feels like ancient history. It’s true what they say – time sure flies when you’re having fun!
But with busy schedules it’s not always easy. We definitely have to make an effort to spend quality time together. If you’re married, in a long-term relationship – or any relationship really – you know making time for date night is essential to keeping things exciting and nurturing your relationship!
And with many dates with the hubs under my belt, I’ve got my date night beauty prep down to a science, with the focus always the same – feeling my most beautiful and confident self.
When it’s date night, I try to create a luxurious experience and enjoy not only getting ready for my man, but for myself as well.
First, I’ll go shopping for my essentials!
I have a few go-to date night beauty prep favorites but lately I can’t go without my Tone® Petal Soft Body Wash and Tone® Radiant Glow Body Wash I found at Walmart! Can I get an amen for silky smooth skin and fragrance that lasts?! It’s #HowITone and key when it comes to getting date night ready.
Tone® has quite the rainbow of scents to choose from but I personally love Petal Soft when I’m feeling romantic, and Radiant Glow when I’m feeling sultry. Sometimes I’ll mix the two for a completely custom scent! I think having a unique, go-to scent for date night makes the night even more special. Plus every time you smell that scent it will trigger the memory of the date.
Right now there’s even a buy 2, earn $2 deal you can find here! That’s basically one body wash for free!!
After I’m stocked up on my faves, I’ll focus on relaxing. I don’t always get the chance to do this but a nice bubble bath not only clears my mind but it helps me de-stress. If you’re going on a first date take this time to let go of the jitters and realize the other person is probably nervous too!
I also love to do a hydrating or brightening mask for a nice glow. Make sure this isn’t the first time you’re using the mask though – you don’t want any allergic reactions.
After my bath I always take a quick shower to rinse off, shave, and do a hair mask. If you have thinner hair I’d recommend skipping the mask so your hair holds any curls you might be planning on adding later.
Another favorite part, and something I always do, is add a sheen to my legs and décolletage. After my shower I’ll use a shimmer oil. I find a dry oil works best and enhances any tan I might already have. It’s gorgeous and very eye-catching!
If it’s a first date I’d say keep the makeup pretty classic and neutral – almost like two levels up from your every day. On dates I don’t really stray much from what I know I love because it’s what I feel most confident in, but every now and again I’ll spice it up with a bold lip. I love to focus on my skin more because I want it to look its best since the hubs will be staring at me all night.
This time I took a bit of inspiration from my Petal Soft body wash and went for a feminine, glowy look with accents of pink. I always recommend sticking to what you know with makeup and your outfit. Shop your closet for that perfect outfit and leave experimenting with a new makeup look or hair style for another time.
You can’t fully control what happens on your date, but you can definitely beauty prep and go into it as confident as you can be! Relax and enjoy the night!
