If you visit my site often you probably describe yourself as modern, fun, sophisticated, and feminine. You also enjoy a dash of sexiness without being too risque – by the way, can we be friends?! 😉 You sound fab!
You and crop tops have a lot in common because I like to describe them in a very similar way.
They can be daring and flirty and if paired with the right bottoms, very chic and stylish. So you gotta hand it to the crop top for being unapologetically themselves and so versatile.
The problem comes when trying to decipher when to wear them and what to pair them with. It doesn’t have to be super tricky but I do like to keep a few things in mind if I ever find myself asking whether to crop top or not.

Crop tops work best when paired with high-waisted anything
This is the number 1 tip when wearing a crop top for me. If you’re going for the chic vibe, I highly recommend only pairing your crop top with a high-waisted pair of pants or skirt. I’d also keep the skirt knee-length or longer.
I like to keep everything else pretty “modest” just because crop tops do draw a bit of attention. Instantly it’ll be the focus so I prefer not to show too much other skin.
Think about who you’ll be around
I wouldn’t recommend wearing a crop top to church or any place of worship. Personally, I wouldn’t feel right showing that much skin so I like to wear them when I’ll be around friends in a casual setting.
Another quick tip is pairing them with something a little less tight, especially if you’re heading to dinner. The pants I’m wearing have an elastic waist which makes them the perfect pair.
Prep the skin
Do what you feel comfortable doing to get the skin on your midsection looking to your liking. Wax, shave, tan, moisturize, anything that makes the skin the same color as the rest of your body and prepped for exposure.
Stomach exposure should be below the bra line
For me, I like to keep the exposed skin to a thin area right below the bra line. Not only is it the most flattering, it shows a little without being too much. Whatever you pair your crop top should stay above your belly button for this look to work well.
If you’re wearing a crop top then you probably already like to have fun with fashion so go for it! Let go of any hang-ups, embrace your body and enjoy the nice breeze you’ll get with this itty bitty top.
A good crop top should help boost your confidence, not the other way around, so remember that the next time you find yourself trying some on at the store.
