Well hello November! You sure crept up on me! I think it’s true what they say.. time goes by way faster as you get older because this year flew! I still talk about things that happened at the beginning of the year like they happened last month!
For Halloween the hubs and I stayed in to pass out candy. We live in a cul-de-sac at the end of a very long road so I wasn’t expecting many trick-or-treaters. I was right.. we got one! LOL. You should have seen my poor husband when the door bell rang! He jumped with excitement and proceeded to give our sole trick-or-treater like five pieces of candy. Better luck next year!
Today’s look is one of my faves! I adore midi dresses because they hug all the right areas and don’t reveal too much. This one in particular I picked up while in Arizona and the trench is from forever21. The color combo has got to be at the top of my list for this time of year! Alone, the orange dress might be too much for some people so by pairing it with a more neutral shade (olive is neutral to me) it helps break it up a bit. I even love pairing the coat with white or black jeans for a casual day out.
This was my first time playing with Urban Decay’s Ultimate Basics palette and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The palette doesn’t seem like much since it’s an all neutral, matte palette (I’m a shimmer girl) but the pigmentation was nice and the colors I used blended well. I used shades Nudie, Faith, Extra Bitter and Blow to create this look. I also used Sephora Collection’s shadow in “Lucky Penny” for the lid color (I wear it pretty much every day!). I’m also wearing Sephora Collection’s gel liner in “Wide Eyed” in my inner rim for a softer feel than typical black or brown.
I can see myself wearing this for Thanksgiving or a night out with friends. Since the weather’s been all over the place in Connecticut (one minute it’s snowing, the next it’s 60 degrees!) a midi dress is the perfect starting point before you start layering accordingly.
On colder days I would switch my open-toe booties for closed and add a huge comfy scarf, not to mention tights! The trench would also be switched to something more like what I wore HERE. Instantly you’ve got an entirely different (and warmer) outfit.
Of course I couldn’t pass up playing with some fall leaves! You see that first pic? That’s the face of someone trying to smile while being told to watch out for ticks!! I threw the leaves up in the air, smiled for the picture then ran away! This made the “camera man” aka my husband laugh. Cruel man.
Until next time friends! I’d love to hear how you style midi dresses!
