In 2016 I embraced minimal eye makeup, gave nude eyeliner a try (and loved it!), focused more on complexion, and fell in love with face oils. I really stuck to what worked for me and rarely stepped away from warm neutrals and clean makeup. Some might think that’s boring but it really allowed me to find stand out products that are now holy grail status.
My favorites in beauty and skincare of 2016 is made up of products I wouldn’t dream of going without. Many of them you’ve seen in previous posts and some are completely brand new. They’re helped streamline my beauty routine and many times helped me get a few more minutes of sleep in the morning knowing I had products I could count on! Keep reading for my stand outs! Maybe you’ll find some future favorites too!
My forever favorite daytime moisturizer is still Murad’s Vitamin C Moisturizer! I won’t say much because I’ve spoken about this countless times (you can check out THIS post for a further review). Just know it sits beautifully under makeup, it doesn’t break me out and never gives flashback in photos.
No matter what nighttime moisturizer I used, I always mixed it with this oil. I purchase mine at Whole Foods and love it because it leaves my skin feeling so hydrated but not sticky. There’s a misconception that oily skin should stay away from oils but that’s definitely not the case – using oils actually tricks your skin into thinking it’s producing enough oil so you actually end up balancing your skin. Marula oil is known for its omega fatty acids, antioxidants and proteins which help with premature aging, environmental stressors and of course, hydration.
If you’re resisting the hype over this concealer girl why?! This is one of those products that definitely deserves all the talk surrounding it because it’s truly really good. It’s very full coverage without feeling heavy or going cakey fast. The applicator is huge so it covers a lot of area and it blends effortlessly. Get your hands on it, you won’t be disappointed.
I’m a true believer that a good mascara can be found at the drugstore – I have tons I love! But none help my lashes keep a curl like this one! I have really straight eyelashes so when I finally decided to try this mascara I was shocked my curl lasted all day! It also separates and adds volume making it a must-have in my book.
I love this brush because I can use it for pretty much every step of my complexion routine. I use it to set my foundation, bronze my skin (because it has a tapered end), and to apply my blush. If you’re on the hunt for a multi-tasking brush I highly recommend this one!
This cream saved my skin during the winter months. I fell in love with it last year during the winter and this year I decided to bring it back. I only use it around my mouth area (where I get most dry) and it’s helped keep my skin looking hydrated and prepped for makeup. I will never go without it during the cold months!
Who needs a $46 foundation brush? Apparently me! Wow this brush is good! Like really good. I use it to apply my liquid and stick foundations in a stipple motion and every time it’s a flawless application. It’s small enough to fit around smaller areas but it still covers enough surface to make application go fast.
As you can see I tried to keep my list short and sweet. I do love tons of other products but when I really sat down to think about my favorites, these products were the only ones I saw a difference when replaced by something else.
Any of these your faves too? I gotta know what products top your list of favorites for 2016! Leave me a comment below with your must-haves so I can check them out too!
