Meghan Markle is said to have a warm elegance about her and I totally agree. Her style is chic yet current and polished all at the same time. Instantly she became the poster child for sophisticated fashion and whatever she wore was selling out almost as quickly as it went up for sale.
My favorite thing about her way of putting ensembles together is that she mixes feminine with classic very well. Her looks aren’t stuffy but they’re not revealing either and I can easily see myself recreating pretty much every look she’s worn with items from my wardrobe.
I narrowed down what makes her style so aspirational and why women love it to five key points. If you too are obsessed with her looks and want to learn how to dress like Meghan Markle, keep reading and find out!

Opt for tone-to-tone
Monochromatic outfits have become some of Meghan Markle’s signature looks. She knows how to pair tone-on-tone beautifully and alludes class because of it. Normally you see her pair tops with same color pencil skirts, but she also does this with well-tailored trousers quite often. Black-on-black (like I did in this post) is one of my personal favorites but cream is a close second and really makes a sophisticated and chic statement.
Master the basics
When the first photos of Meghan Markle starting surfacing as Prince Harry’s new girlfriend, all I could think about was that she knew how to rock a basic. It takes someone with a lot of poise and class to look polished in ripped denim and a white button up and she nailed it. She also has amazing taste in flats (yup, I’m keeping track) and her purses are to die for. I love that she keeps her basics in interchangeable colors and most her bags are structured.
When you shop for basics, never skimp on quality and make sure the fit is perfect for your body type. A classic white t-shirt can go a long way if it looks like it was made just for you.
Up your coat game
Ms. Markle (not for long) knows how to rock a mean coat. Everyone was gunning for a crisp, winter white peacoat after she wore one during their engagement announcement and I can’t blame them. Again, structure and fit play a huge role in making a coat look amazing, as well as not being shy to stray from classic black. Cream seems to be her preferred coat color but she’s also been seen wearing an emerald-colored coat that I found fit for a princess.
Solids over prints
Meghan doesn’t wear a lot of prints; she really sticks to solid colors and clean lines. If you want to dress like the future duchess, skip the loud patterns and colors. Colors she’s often seen in are black, cream, burgundy, deep green, and navy blue.
A natural beauty
Though makeup is not technically fashion, it is part of the overall feel of a look so for Meghan, simple, clean makeup is often what you’ll see her in. Here and there she goes for a classic bold red lip or smokey eyes, but everything is kept clean and chic. She lets her natural beauty do the talking and rarely is the makeup the focus. Skip heavy foundations and dark colors if you want to emulate her beauty routine.
I would love to hear what you love most about Meghan Markle’s style and if you’ll be tuning into the royal wedding this weekend?
Hope you have a wonderful rest of the day!
