Last week I invited some of my best girlfriends over to see our new place and have ourselves a little summer soirée! (Can we all agree adding “soirée” to anything makes it sound super fancy?) Our guest of honor was Notable Wines because when my friends and I get together it’s all about good conversation and even better wine!
Any time I know I’m having friends over I tend to go a little overboard with preparations. I clean with a good three days in advance and I love making the event extra special for them. Trust me when I say every little detail is thought out and I’m pretty particular about my menu.
With that said, I have 3 Tips on How to Host a Summer Soirée I ALWAYS follow:
Tip 1. Have a theme: A theme is so helpful when planning a get-together. It can guide you in the decision-making process because you’ll base everything according to your set plan.
To plan my soirée, I took inspiration straight from the wine bottles. I decided to go with a music theme since the name – Notable – ties perfectly! Easy listening music is said to enhance the chardonnay experience so I planned ahead and made a special playlist for the party with light, mellow artists from the late 50s, early 60s, and current popular songs. It was the perfect backdrop for us to catch up!
Deciding the flavor of wine I wanted was actually the easiest part. Notable Wines is the first to showcase the flavor profiles right on the front label making it super simple to shop exactly what you’re looking for. I tend to get a little overwhelmed when I’m shopping the wine aisles but with the flavors highlighted on the label I was quickly able to choose citrus and fruity for my first Chardonnay and buttery and vanilla for the second, so no matter my friend’s palette they had something to enjoy.
Tip 2. Make sure your food and drink pairs well: With parties you want things to run smoothly – food and drinks included! I always think of this as one of the biggest part of the experience because people tend to remember how yummy (or not!) their food and beverages were.
I decided to choose my finger foods according to the notes on the bottle: the fruity and crisp Chardonnay paired beautifully with grapes and the oaky and buttery chardonnay was shared with a variety of tasty popcorn. I had other finger foods as well but my focus was to highlight the flavors of the wine and have it all tie together.
Tip 3. Have a special treat (or surprise) up your sleeve: Guests love to feel catered to during parties – it’s their night out after all! So when you incorporate an unexpected gesture it makes the experience more personal.
For my surprise, I decided to have a little fun with our wine! Using the fruity and crisp chardonnay notes as a guide, I brought out peach and melon ice pops to add to our wine glasses. Can I just say what a hit this was?! My friends were literally in heaven with these boozy pops! It was so refreshing and tasty that it’s now going to be a go-to for all my summer soirees with Notable Wines! You can tell people love what they’re having when the room gets silent and they’re just enjoying their treats! As the host, there’s nothing better!
Are you hosting any soirées this summer? I’m already planning my next one using Notable Wines! It was seriously so fun incorporating the wine as a theme and seeing my friends have the best time.
