It feels so good to be back on the blogging grind! I’ve missed you guys! And I’m just as equally excited to be bringing you one of the best drugstore finds I’ve come across in a very long time.
I’m talking about Maybelline FITMe Matte+Poreless Foundation! Girlfriend, let me tell you about my new best friend.
Let’s start with the claims, shall we?
This foundation is for normal to oily skin and “goes beyond skin tone matching to fit the unique texture issues of normal to oily skin for the ultimate natural skin fit.” In other words, Maybelline claims this foundation will mattify, erase pores and match your natural skin tone.
It comes in 16 shades and it is recommended you use your fingers when blending into your skin. You can find it at your local Ulta for $7.99 or Target for $6.99.
I’ve been using this foundation for about three weeks, maybe more, and I’ve been absolutely adoring it. I’ve been traveling a lot lately (hence the lack of posts) and I’ve been experiencing a lot of different climates and this foundation has not let me down.
At first I didn’t know how to explain how well it was working with my skin but when I read Maybelline’s claims it all made sense; This foundation really does mix with your skin’s texture to create a natural, pore-minimizing appearance. What I love about this foundation is that it covers what I need it to cover without looking cakey or overdone. This means it doesn’t settle into my pores, like some matte foundations tend to do, leaving me with a non-sticky, naturally matte, not flat finish. Another bonus? It hasn’t broken me out!
How amazing is it that I’m saying all these great things about a drugstore foundation right?.. A $7 drugstore foundation to be exact! *throws confetti in the air*
I first fell in love with Matte+Poreless in conjunction with my beauty blender; You’ll get a medium but sheer finish if you apply it this way. Just recently I decided to try it with my Sigma F80 brush and I found this gives me a much fuller coverage. Either way this foundation is buildable and I find myself applying two layers, with the second only focusing on any past acne-scarring or discoloration. I also found that I prefer wearing it without primer; This is the first time I’ve ever experienced this. I find it doesn’t need it and works better on my skin without it (I do wear a powder and use a setting spray for longevity though).
If you have dry skin do not come near this foundation; you will absolutely despise it as it clings to dry patches like no other. I had some dryness around my mouth area when I started using this foundation and it accentuated the flakes. I found myself exfoliating before applying it and it worked like a charm. If you have dry skin I’d suggest trying the dewy + smooth finish though I have not tried and can’t fully recommend. Other cons have been the glass container and lack of pump; its made it less travel-friendly for me.
Overall this foundation is wonderful on my oily skin. I don’t find it to be overly drying (I still have some “dewyness” around my T-zone throughout the day), it’s lightweight and doesn’t exaggerate my pores, giving me a semi-matte, natural finish. It does a decent job at keeping my oil at bay (about 3 hours before I blot) and my shade matches me perfectly (128 Warm Nude). It truly is an amazing value, great coverage and finish. Two thumbs up from me!
