This menswear-inspired look is by far one of my favorites I’ve done on the blog. It came about back in September when I was planning my Gatsby-themed birthday party. I was searching Pinterest and found a ton of photos from Kris Jenner’s 1920’s birthday party. So much glitz and glam oozed from the party-goers decked in head-to-toe sequins but Kourtney Kardashian stood out to me most. She opted for a power suit – and I loved it!
In a very similar way, New Year’s Eve is the time to sparkle. Wear that bedazzled dress if your heart desires. Go for bold and fun colors – I’m so not against that! I’ve certainly been there done that! But if you’ve been craving an uber chic way to stand out, this menswear-inspired New Year’s Eve look is for you.

This look, while at first glance bold and sleek, has a lot of surprise details. The first being the back of my black blazer. The texture-peplum bottom adds a chic twist to the look and the satin feel lapel brings in a feminine touch (this one would be so fun too!). I love the contrast because it brings in the best of both worlds – something I do a lot with my wardrobe.
The idea of not wearing any sparkle on New Year’s Eve might induce some separation anxiety you didn’t even know existed between you and glitter when related to NYE (I kid, but not really) so I decided to keep a little bit of glam. I added glitz with a rhinestone pair of heels that twinkle in all the right places. This way you can still feel part of the glitterazzi when the ball drops.
The most important part of menswear-inspired fashion is to own it. You’re going to feel a certain amount of swagger so don’t fight it 😉 Add your own twist and enjoy your night!
Have you decided on your New Year’s Eve look? I would love to hear your outfit selections and if you would rock this style?
