There have been few moments in my beauty loving life when skin care products have wowed me right from the start. I like to be wined and dined first before committing and claiming HG status on products, especially skin care, but with these products it was truly love at first try.
What you’ll find in this list is a little bit of everything: a beautifully formulated cleanser that comes in two formulas, a hydrating and purifying toner, and a sheet mask that’s rocking my world.. to name a few!
Before we jump in, a little recap on my skin: I have acne-prone combination skin and have recently been focusing on anti-aging products and ingredients that help with my hyperpigmentation and texture. I don’t classify my skin as sensitive because it can tolerate high percentages of strong ingredients but it does tend to break out easily when products don’t mix well with my skin’s chemistry.
Let’s jump in to my current must-haves!
CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser
Cleansing our skin is one of the most important steps in our skin care routine because not only does it remove our makeup and any dirt and oil we’ve accumulated throughout the day, it also preps our skin for serums and moisturizer. I’m a huge fan of double cleansing at night (I’ll normally remove my eye makeup with THIS eye makeup remover or THIS one, then go in with face wipes for the rest of my face – I’m currently obsessing over THESE). Afterwards I’ll gently remove any excess residue left on my skin with my holy grail cleanser, CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser. All skin types will benefit from this cleanser because its formula is non-stripping, gentle, and will not clog your pores. I’ve raved about other cleansers in the past but none come close to this one; It’s simply the best and for the price it cannot be beat! (It also comes in a HYDRATING formula for drier skin types.)
Rhonda Allison Purifying Lotion
This was an impulse buy after watching Youtuber Carli Bybel’s latest skin care routine video where she mentions this toner. I have struggled to find a great toner for quite some time since many I’ve tried have left my skin feeling too tight and dry; This is not the case with Rhonda Allison Purifying Lotion! I am so glad I caved and gave this toner a shot because it definitely removes any leftover traces of makeup and dirt, as well as leaves my skin feeling refreshed and balanced. I let it thoroughly dry before I move on to the next step in my skin care routine and really relish its cooling sensation. The best part? The ingredients and scent! It reads a who’s who of antioxidants that really help congested and environmentally stressed skin and the scent has a tinge of citrus grapefruit.
Philosophy Help Me Retinol Night Treatment
If you’ve never tried a retinol product, this is your starting point! The percentage isn’t too high to where it’ll irritate your skin but it will certainly start to make a difference in the texture of your skin as well as start to diminish any slight fine lines and wrinkles. I couldn’t be happier with the way it has started improving rougher areas of my skin where congestion was an issue, and I’ve had no problems with it breaking out my skin. I always wake up to smooth skin when I use this product and my makeup applies flawlessly. Remember to use SPF (at least 30) when using nightly retinol products because skin does become more sensitized when exposed to sun.
TREATMENTS
Sheet masks are everywhere these days and I for one am a big fan! Out of all the one’s I’ve tried, Karuna has truly impressed me. I had myself a little spa night a few weeks ago and this mask was the main attraction; I had a few blemishes I could feel forming underneath my skin and the following day they were significantly smaller. I’ve now made a point to use this mask at least twice a month to keep my acne from flaring up.
Bioré Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips
This is another product that I make sure to use at least twice a month because they really do draw out my clogged pores and impurities around my nose area. I love the charcoal infused strips because I feel these do the best job and have really made a difference.
TULA Exfoliating Treatment Mask
It’s no secret I have acne-prone, congested skin, so exfoliating is key to getting rid of dry skin that only adds to a dull appearance. When Tula sent me this mask to try I was so excited to read it served both as chemical and physical exfoliation with ingredients like lactic acid and bentonite clay. One of my favorite things about this product is that it also includes omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids! I use this maybe every other week and love that it makes my skin smooth and hydrated.
