Happy Monday beauties! This past Saturday was one of the most beautiful Saturdays in Connecticut – and then the rain came on Sunday. But for a brief moment we had summer and it hit me that my wardrobe is far from summer ready. And don’t even get me started on beach body ready. Have you seen that meme that says “The beach gonna get whatever body I give it“? Ya, that’s me right now.
But back to my closet woes, it’s been going through a transition – partly because some days are still light sweater weather and also my closet is in shambles from my recent move. Since I’ve been having to update my summer wardrobe on the fly, I thought I’d share some small ways to update your summer wardrobe that don’t cost much and take minimal effort!
SHOP THE LOOK
Seems silly but all your summer clothes have probably been in storage and need a little T.L.C. After you inspect for damage and wash them, iron your threads. I swear this gives new life to clothes and makes them look brand new.
Add a different vibe with cool, trendy pieces of jewelry – especially sunglasses and purses! You guys already know when it comes to my wardrobe I’m not huge on a ton of color so when summer comes around and color is everywhere I LOVE incorporating brights with fun accessories. These earrings are huge right now and I’ve been eyeing these stunning shades for summa! The great part is you won’t break the bank and it’ll add new flair to items already in your closet.
BONUS: Wearing a bright lip also counts as an easy way to accessorize this summer. Can you imagine an all white outfit with a coral lip? Dreamy!
Start Wearing Your White Shorts
Can we all just agree that a good pair of crisp white shorts makes any outfit summer ready? I bought the one’s I’m wearing during the Nordstrom sale and I’m digging the high-waist and frayed hems. These would also work beautifully with bodysuits and crop tops – trends that aren’t going anywhere this summer!
Polish Your Shoes
Just like clothes, shoes need love too. Wipe off any scuffs and if the material of the shoe allows it, fill any scratches with shoe polish. Or if you’re in a pinch, use nail polish for small dents. This is a must especially with white sneakers or slide-ons that have a white platform (like my all-time faves!).
Turn Your Button-Ups Into “Jackets”
This is one of my favorite things to do because it’s so simple and effortless! If you have any lightweight button-ups, like the one I’m wearing (similar here), throw them over a basic tee, keep them unbuttoned and roll up the sleeves. Instantly you have a new look for summer and you didn’t spend a penny!
Shop Nude Wedges That Go With Everything
Because I’m only 5 foot, I can use all the help I can get when it comes to appearing taller. In my opinion I look pretty frumpy in shorts and flats so a cute nude wedge is a must for any summer outfit. I love these from Sam Edelman and the best part is they’re actually comfy to walk in. For wedges anyway 😉
Share how you get your wardrobe summer-ready below! It’s always fun to hear how you guys “recycle” pieces for different seasons.
Hope your Monday is off to a great start! Until next time!
