Spring does something to me. It’s like all I want to do is embrace color and bathe in the welcomed sunshine. My husband always jokes that, “little Bub (aka me) doesn’t like the cold,” and laughs at how quickly I bundle up if just the slightest breeze comes my way. So to say I’m happy warmer days are here is an understatement.
That’s why today is a pretty special day. I’ve partnered with EcoTools at Ulta to bring you a fresh-faced, pop-of-color spring makeup look that is sure to kiss my – and your – winter blues buh-bye! The focus is all about creating a dewy, flawless face and embracing color for spring.
When I know I’m keeping my eye look simple I start with skin. I always spend most of my time creating the perfect canvas because if my skin looks its best, everything else just comes together. To start, smooth a radiant or luminizing primer all over if you have dry skin or just on the high points of your face if you’re normal to oily, like me.
Using your EcoTools Large Base Blender damp, blend your foundation over your primer in a “stippling” or “bouncing” motion. The round base helps create a seamless application and the flat surface quickly covers larger areas like cheeks and your forehead. Blend out your concealer as well.
Once you’re finished blending out your foundation, you can use the same round end of your large Blender to apply your cream contour. Make sure you really stipple and push upwards on the hollows of your cheeks to build the color and sculpt your cheekbones.
Now using the round end of your Mini Detail Blender, pick up your favorite liquid highlighter and stipple everywhere sunlight would naturally hit – on your cheekbones, down the bridge of your nose, and on top of your cupid’s bow.
I’m kinda obsessed that the blenders come in a duo pack because having the smaller size really helps get into smaller crevices and gives precise application. A great tip is to keep the Mini Detail Blender‘s flat surface for “baking.” Because it’s a little firmer, it works amazing at creating sharp lines (for cleaning up your contour) and detailed setting powder application under the eye area.
If you tend to get a bit oily, this would be the time to set down the center of your face with your Full Powder brush. Since we’re going for a dewy look, a great technique is to press and roll so that the powder doesn’t look cakey and the finish is smooth and light.
To set and enhance the glow and bronzing we’ve created with the cream products, use your Define & Highlight Duo to apply your powder bronzer over your cream contour and your powder highlighter everywhere you stippled your liquid luminizer.
Brush and define your brows lightly with your favorite brow products – I love pencils but powders tend to look a little more natural.
Because I have bright plans for the lips, I’m keeping the eyes neutral. I loved using the Enhancing Eye Set for this part because it’s two brushes with dual brush heads so you have everything you need to complete any eye look.
After applying eye primer, set with a light shade using the soft, tapered bristles end. Then define the crease with the same bristles and blend outwards toward the outer-V area. To add dimension pick up a deeper shade and apply just on the outer-V area. Then smudge the same shadow along the bottom lash line to define the eye a little more. I love this trick because it’s a lot softer than black eyeliner but it still opens the eyes. Finish with a coat, or three, of volumizing mascara.
Add a natural flush of color by applying your blush upwards, almost following above your contour. This application is perfect for rounder face shapes but if you have an oval face, just dusting it on the apples of your cheeks balances the face.
Tie the look together with a coral pop of color on the lips! This vibrant color seriously gives me all the spring feels and brings the look to life.
This spring makeup look doesn’t take long and is the perfect look to transition into the warmer months. All the brushes I used you can find at Ulta Beauty. I highly recommend checking out the blenders – as well as the powder brush! All the brushes are incredible, not to mention super affordable, but those were my faves!!
