A “fall uniform” is a default outfit you throw on when you don’t have time to put a look together or you just can’t be bothered. It’s comfortable but still looks like you put thought into it even though you know it was pretty effortless. Something major to note – this look only works if you could live in it! Since it’s a go-to, it not only has to make you look good, it’s got to make you feel good too.
Now, I didn’t write this post to show you a sweater and leggings combo. We can all put together a look like this. What I want to point out, and what I think is KEY to putting together an effortless fall uniform, is focusing on quality pieces that have unique and subtle details which then enhance the overall feel of your look.
Where I think we often miss the mark when putting together a “casual” look is that we go a little too casual. My outfit is simple but there’s a reason why it still feels put together – my sweater has a pull tie detail that adds a little ruching to my right side. The bottom hem also has a slight curve to it. I’m 5’1 so the little bit of extra leg showing helps me look leaner.
Not only are the details of my sweater great for elevating my fall uniform, but the fabric of my leggings also helps. Instead of sticking to cotton, the faux leather really adds an edgy vibe (helping my outfit look more dressed up) and the control top smoothes everything out and keeps things in place.
I’d love to hear how you master putting together an effortless fall uniform? What’s your go-to style when you need a quick outfit for the day?
