Polka dots are having a moment right now; They’re the print you’re going to see everywhere this spring! From the catwalk to sidewalk, this bold pattern is the new way to add a playful twist to any piece in your wardrobe, instantly.
I don’t normally jump on bold pattern trends head first, especially polka dots. To me, they’ve always felt a bit tricky to pull off. They can start looking “young” real quick and sometimes be too girly for my liking. But when done right, they can exude sophistication (think Julia Roberts wearing that brown and white dress in Pretty Woman) or give you all the vintage vibes à la I Love Lucy, Katharine Hepburn, and Marilyn Monroe. Not many patterns can transcend styles like that which makes polka dots pretty special.

I wore this maxi tea dress around California and felt so feminine yet retro. I got a compliment from John at Chanel on Robertson Blvd. and well, that about made my day. Thanks John for making a girl feel chic 😉
The great thing about the polka dot trend is that you can choose to go a bit vintage by going classic black and white or spruce it up by mixing it with different patterns (I LOVE how it looks against green palm tree prints). Mixing contrasting bold patterns is another huge trend for spring and dots definitely add to the playful vibe.
Another thing to consider when choosing the right polka dot pattern for you is the size of the dots. Micro or mini dots are my favorite because they tend to be a little more sophisticated and understated. I love them with flowy tops and jumpsuits for a chic and fun look.
Are you all in or all out on this spring trend? I would love to know below!
Have a great week loves!
