Skincare is one of the things I get asked about most. I get a lot of questions asking for recommendations or what I think about the latest “it” ingredients – I love getting those questions! If you didn’t know, I’ve been in skincare for a long time now and I’ve worked as a specialist, dealing with people’s skin issues one-on-one. It’s a very personal experience and one I never took lightly.
My interest in skincare started when I was around 15 years old. Like so many teenagers, I struggled with oily, problem-prone skin and it really took a toll on my self-esteem. I didn’t know how to control it and I basically tried anything and everything on the market. Last year I entered a new decade of life (my 30’s!) and while I now deal with problem-prone skin on a much lesser degree, it’s still a big concern that’s now grouped with new skin woes that include anti-aging.
The thing I learned from 15 years of skin struggles is to never compromise on your skincare products – always ask questions and do diligent research when choosing the right products for your skin concerns. We all want to be “natural beauties” so why not start with skincare products that are natural and good for you.
My skin journey has taken me through many brands but the one I want to focus on today is SheaMoisture.
I love SheaMoisture’s vow of uncompromising beauty without potentially harmful ingredients like parabens, mineral oil, DEA, and petroleum. Their skin and body products are made with natural, certified organic and fair trade ingredients. Not to mention they’re easily accessible and you can find them at Walmart, which is where I shop for my products. They’re located in an end cap right in the beauty section, making finding the products a breeze.
When my trouble skin acts up, one of my go-to’s for a natural skincare solution is SheaMoisture’s African Black Soap Clarifying Mud Mask. It focuses on drawing out congestion and dirt which are huge culprits behind blemish-prone skin. My biggest tip is to be consistent and incorporate natural skincare wherever possible in your routine. Not only will you be giving your skin the best possible ingredients, you’ll feel good about it too.
I decided a long time ago that what I put on my skin mattered, and choosing skincare products that are formulated with good ingredients should never feel like I was compromising on quality. Finding the right products has been a journey, but it’s certainly been rewarding. After all, our skin is our largest organ, making it our first line of defense against environmental stressors, so taking care of it is important.
My current favorite SheaMoisture products that I use are the SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Body Wash and the Raw Shea Butter Soap – which leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean!
Thank you so much for reading about my experience. I’d love to know about your favorite SheaMoisture products below and how they’ve been beneficial for your skin type?
