Fun fact: I can spend a good three hours perusing drugstore makeup aisles at any given time of the day. I don’t know if this is such a fun fact for my husband, but it is for me. I especially love Target! It’s like the twilight zone for me; I leave with a basket full of goodies and have no idea how it happened.
This is all because in recent years drugstore makeup brands have really upped their game in terms of quality and packaging; Often I find myself reaching for my high-end makeup’s drugstore counterpart and being very satisfied with the results. I love this because when I get the itch to try new products or I have to restock on favorites, I don’t feel the pang of dropping $20 or more on say, a mascara.
Which brings me to my 15 drugstore darlings; I’ve repurchased many of these products over and over again and they always fulfill my makeup needs.
1. Wet n Wild Lipsticks // $1.99
I’ve seen people claim these lippies as dupes for certain MAC shades, but aside from that I simply think they’re a great bargain and perfect for switching it up or trying colors you wouldn’t normally wear. My favorite out of the shades I own is Just Peachy; It’s one of my top 5 lipstick colors out of all the lipsticks I own (high-end and drugstore).
2. NYC Liquid Liner // $2.99
You’ll get such a precise and intense cat eye with this liner. I love using it on top of my gel liner to further darken and set my wing.
3. Ardell Lashes // $3.99
I’ve raved about these lashes many times and you probably know my favorite pair are the Glamour Wispies but I also adore their 120 Demi lashes; I always pick up a pair when I’m at the drugstore.
4. NYX Retractable Lip Liner in Nude // $4.49
5. Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Nude Creme // $4.97
Unbelievably creamy formula and pretty much my favorite drugstore pinky-peach nude. I also love the gold packaging and is a constant in my handbag.
6. NYX HD Concealer // $4.99
Dare I say a great drugstore alternative to NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer? If you use the shade ‘Custard’ in the NARS concealer, try NYX ‘Beige’ and thank me later.
7. NYX Blushes // $5.00
All around great blushes with a wonderful range of shades. They last forever and are the right amount of pigmentation. I love ‘Dusty Rose,’ ‘Mauve,’ and ‘Peach.’
8. Maybelline The Creamy Mattes Lipsticks // $5.50
My favorite drugstore lipstick release of 2014! These babies are so so beautiful and very comfortable to wear. I equate them to Lorac’s Matte lip pencils which are some of my all-time favorite lip products.
9. Maybelline Define-A-Brow Eyebrow Pencil // $5.99
I’ve been using the ‘Dark Brown’ shade for about five years now and have absolutely no complaints.
10. e.l.f. Kabuki Face Brush // $6.00
Another product I don’t really talk about but I use daily. I’ve also been using this product for a good five years and I don’t intend on switching it up any time soon. It pairs beautifully with my favorite face powder, MAC’s Studio Fix.
11. Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Super Natural // $6.89
This is my ‘MLBB’ (My Lips But Better) lip gloss. I have back-ups of it and just like Milani’s Nude Creme, this is a constant in my handbag (I often pair the two together).
12. Milani Baked Blushes // $6.97
We all know about ‘Luminoso’ right? It’s like Benefit Coralista’s peachier cousin; it gives a stunning flush of color. I also recommend Berry Amore, a perfect shade for the winter months.
13. Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner // $7.59
All beauties who adore a good wing gel liner should own this. It’s so affordable and delivers smooth, pigmented application.
14. Maybelline Full N Soft Mascara // $7.99
HG drugstore mascara? I think yes. I use the waterproof formula because my lashes are stubborn and don’t curl, and this does the trick. I always turn to this mascara when I don’t know what else to use. (I’m also going to sneak in Rimmel’s Lash Accelerator for bottom lashes because it’s the best!)
15. L’oreal Infallible Setting Spray // $13.99
A newbie to my drugstore must-have collection but well-deserving of its spot. Do yourself a favor and run to your nearest Target and pick up this makeup extender. Your makeup WILL NOT BUDGE and you’ll wonder how you ever went without it.
