Thank you to Michaels Jewelers for sponsoring today’s fall essentials post. All opinions are my own.
Bring on all the fall vibes today! I am beyond excited to be chatting some must-have fall essentials that are super on trend right now. Truth be told, I’m a sucker for fall fashion and embrace it with open arms at just the slightest hint of crisp air. Growing up in Arizona I didn’t really experience all four seasons so now, it’s like a binge session of cozy knits and OTK boots I never knew I was missing.
This fall I’ve been seeing some past season favorites make a roaring return to center stage while other fall trends are in my opinion, old-reliables because they pop up every year. It’s a mix of old and slightly reinvented and I’m completely here for it all. I gathered my top seven must-haves that I believe will not only add seasonal flair but will be timeless additions to any wardrobe.
7 Must Have Fall Essentials for the Season
A go-to nude and bold lip
It’s no surprise I would highly recommend having your favorite nude and bold (aka red) lip on hand come fall season. Every woman should own her perfect shade in both colors for everyday wear and special occasions.
The nude should feel effortless and can be applied on-the-go without hesitation of it looking great. The red should instantly boost your confidence and exude class and confidence. I talk more about my favorite nude shades here (including my all-time favorite) and you can find my current favorite deep raspberry shade here.
Quality, dainty jewelry
While dainty jewelry is a huge trend right now, it’s also one that’s stood the test of time and a personal favorite for years now. Smaller, delicate pieces have a way of making a statement without being gaudy or too in-your-face. They’re soft yet striking and have a way of pairing effortlessly with casual looks to the most formal.
The selection of quality, dainty jewelry at Michaels Jewelers is a dream. I love walking into any one of their 10 locations in Connecticut and seeing what’s new and trending. My personal favorites are their rose gold and morganite pieces and classic pearl earrings and necklaces. They’re both investments but quality staples I know I’ll wear not only during all my fall events, but all seasons to come.
There’s also something really special about curating a jewelry wardrobe of quality pieces. For one, you never forget your first investment piece and two, they’re cherished with the thought of one day being passed on.
A structured, top handle bag (aka a box, bucket, or circle bag)
I’ve always been a fan of structured bags because they tend to look high-end without the need to spend a lot of money. This season, it’s all about unique shapes and fun, top handles.
Depending on your personal style, you have the choice of a variety of shapes but my favorites are the circle and bucket bag. The one I’m wearing is a little of both and I find it practical yet festive for the season. It’s also one of the simplest ways to stay on trend without having to purchase an entirely new wardrobe. You can add a unique twist (quite literally) to the top handle by wrapping a fun scarf around it. I love the idea of interchanging it to complement the outfit I’m wearing that day.
Brown is the new black this season and I’m all about a cozy, camel scarf. There’s something so timeless and classic about this piece that’s not only on trend now, but will be a piece you take out of storage for years to come. You can find a similar one here.
An oversized blazer (in check, herringbone or plaid)
Oversized everything is completely in this season. My favorite way to interpret this trend is by wearing oversized blazers in the top patterns of the season. Blazers, in general, are chic and sophisticated but a fun way to bring this trend into 2018 is by incorporating color. Pink is huge this fall and I’ve been seeing these patterns come to life just by switching out the typical darker shades for more fun, lively colors.
There’s only one way you’ve missed this trend and that’s if you’ve been living under a rock. Animal print is everywhere right now with top prints being leopard, cheetah, snakeskin, and zebra. I’m partial to leopard and snakeskin because I think if done right can elevate a simple outfit (like with the scarf I wrapped around the handles of my purse) or can be the outfit if the print is on a jacket or top.
I’m still on the hunt for my perfect pair but there’s no denying this trend is everywhere. White booties were a big trend last fall and I’m glad they’re back again this year. They’re definitely for the more daring and those who want to stand out.
These must-have fall essentials are such a fun way to add life to your fall wardrobe while adding timeless pieces as well. They’re not only on trend, but a great way to start curating a closet full of favorites you love.
