One thing all of us have in common is that we go through ups and downs. Some seasons of life are just better than others and even day-to-day life can be a whirlwind. I know just last week I had a pretty horrible day followed by a great one so yes, life is pretty unpredictable.

The one thing we can control is ourselves and how we react to these unpleasant days. Lately, I’ve been in a creative and writing funk. It all started with my laptop running out of hard drive space earlier this year forcing me to get an external hard drive. I basically went on a deleting binge so I could regain space. It helped but soon after the pesky updates started popping up again.
It got to the point that putting up a post became the biggest ordeal because my laptop would randomly shut off (deleting everything I’d just done) or it wouldn’t let me upload any photos. The whole process became so trying that I started to push off writing posts. Then last week I started having issues with my hosting company which only amplified everything.
Well, this weekend I finally put my big girl pants on and went to the Apple store to see what the deal was. After four hours we figured it out and I hope *crossing my fingers* we’re all good to go.
So why did I just tell you my sob story? Because I realized that I’d let half the year go by and I didn’t do anything to help my situation other than run from it. I let my trying season last longer than it should have. Maybe I needed a little break and I saw this as an opportunity to have one or maybe I was losing my passion for this space? *gasp. never!*
This past weekend turned on a switch for me; I’m not content with mediocre and that’s good! I love that about myself. Maybe one day I’ll share my whole life story but it’s taken a lot to get to where I am today and my journey’s not going to be in vain. So I’ve decided to redirect my energy and I write down some aspirations for June. I work best when I break down tasks so monthly, weekly, and daily goals serve me well.
Pick up a new book
I hate to admit it but it’s been a minute since I read a book – or should I say finished a book. I got a little burnt out reading only “self-help” books that even when I was trying to shut off it still felt like I was working. My goal is to find a book that’s just for fun and takes me far, far away when I need it. Any recs?
Book another getaway
I’m thankful I’ve gotten the chance to travel as much as I’d hoped so far this year. I’ve been to L.A, back home to Arizona, Montréal, Charlotte, Tampa, Charleston, Miami and this month I’m heading to Nashville so I’d like to continue my travel-spree and book another vacation soon. My husband’s birthday is coming up so what better excuse? 😉 This really is about my want to explore and see new things. I’ve been enjoying doing this very much.
I’m going to be totally transparent and let you guys know our house is a mess right now. I’m re-arranging and organizing because we’ve decided to renew our lease and stay a little longer in our apartment. Our space is small so I’m currently looking for new organizational pieces to help declutter and it’s definitely been a journey. It’s a huge goal to get everything looking and feeling right again.
Create a schedule that works for me
If you didn’t know, I work most days from home so it’s extremely important to have a routine and stick to it otherwise there go two hours on Instagram. I have an idea of the type of schedule I want but this month I really want to nail it. Essentially I’m trying to work smarter not harder and a lot of it stems from how I manage my time.
Aspirations are meant to motivate you and get you to where you want to be. If you’re feeling less than excited about life or your goals, redirect your energy and break down exactly what you need to be doing.
As always, I’d love to hear what you’re working toward in the comments section below? Have you been working on this for a long time or is this something new you’ve aspired for yourself?
Until next time and happy goal-crushing!
