Man did this post take me a long time to put together! My plan was to get it up for you guys about two weeks ago but life got so hectic it kept getting pushed back. Alas, we’re finally here and I get to share, what I consider, the best drugstore beauty products of 2017.
As I’ve gotten older my beauty shopping habits have completely shifted; I don’t really buy to just have anymore. If I buy it’s because I’ve done my research and really think it’ll add to my beauty routine. Not only has this helped with unnecessary spending, I’ve also been able to streamline my routine. Today I hope you find some new favorites that add to your routine and make life a little better!

L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation: I’m not sure if this foundation came out in 2016 or 2017 but it was a stand-out for me last year. I liked it so much I purchased a winter and summer shade which is a rarity for me. I try so many different foundations that sometimes I don’t realize I found a good one until people start complimenting me and Pro-Matte gets me the most compliments, even above my high-end foundations. The finish is demi-matte and the coverage is medium to buildable. Although the name suggests it’d be best for normal to oily skin types, the formula doesn’t cling or dry too quickly so unless you have severely dry skin, this foundation would be great for you. It also photographs beautifully and lasts a good eight hours.
Wet n Wild To Reflect Shimmer Palette in “Boozy Brunch”: This highlighter is 0.4 oz. and under six bucks! While it doesn’t look like much in the pan, it’s the prettiest golden shade that gives all my favorite high-end highlighters a run for their money. It’s not chunky and I love to use it on my body for a golden gleam. Anyone would look beautiful in this highlighter but especially medium to tan skin tones.
CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion AM SPF 30: This moisturizer is ideal for light to medium skin tones that want great sun protection and have normal to oily skin. I do recommend waiting a bit after your morning serums and warming it up in your hands before applying because it can clump up but the great ingredients make it worth it for me. The moisturizer has ceramides, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid which are some of the best ingredients to look for in skincare. I’ve never had issues with how it wears under makeup or how it photographs so for the price, it’s the best drugstore daytime moisturizer I’ve found.
Real Techniques Powder Brush: In general, Real Techniques has some of the best brushes you can find at the drugstore. The bristles on the powder brush are really soft and they don’t shed. I love this brush in particular because the size is perfect (not too big not too small) and it gets the job done effectively.
Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color: These lipsticks are not an ultra-matte finish but they don’t have a sheen either. The colors are some of my favorite (try “Lust for Blush”) and they’re pretty long-lasting. They are transferable though so if you want something that stays on all day, these are going to need re-application. The reason I love these so much is because I’ve had them for years and they’re still a go-to in my beauty routine.
Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara: One of the best bottom lash mascaras hands down! I’ve never had issues with it transferring and the wand is perfect for getting into crevices.
Acure Organics Marula Oil: Face oils are some of my favorite skin care products that make a huge difference. Marula oil is rich in proteins and essential fatty acids that are going to help with anti-aging and hydration. I love to top off my nighttime routine with the oil because it locks everything in and keeps fine lines at bay.
Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer: If you love a coconut scent and tend to have a heavy hand with bronzer, this might be the one for you. I’m normally not a huge fan of overly fragranced products (especially in skincare) but this product smells yummy yet doesn’t linger to the point it gets offensive. Plus the color is buildable and very natural. If you’re looking for a contour shade, I’d skip this but if you want a product that’s going to warm up the skin and blend effortlessly, definitely give this one a try.
Share below your favorite drugstore products! I’d love to know the gems you’ve found in both skincare and makeup!
