If you’ve been following along on my Instagram then you know I’m almost 35 weeks pregnant with our second baby girl! If this is the first time you’re hearing about this, SURPRISE! Our family is growing and we can’t wait for our little girl’s arrival very soon.
There have been countless differences when comparing my two pregnancies. For starters, I’ve been pregnant through a pandemic and everything from doctor’s appointments (I can count in one hand how many times I’ve seen my doctor) to gatherings with family and friends (or lack thereof) has been different. Part of me has loved not feeling pressured to be out-and-about while the other part has felt isolated and alone in celebrating this new life. I have so many beautiful memories of being pregnant with Vivienne, from her baby shower to telling our families in person we were expecting, and much of that wasn’t possible this time around.
On a brighter note, my husband has been working from home for the majority of my pregnancy so in that sense, it’s been nice having him around to help care for Vivienne when I found myself too sick to. I really believe their bond has grown so much during this time and for that I’m very grateful.
Because we’ve had so much time at home, I feel we’ve really gotten to cherish this time and savor these last months with Vivienne as our only baby. Like I mentioned, obligations outside the home really subsided and it left us to focus on ourselves as a family unit and really take our time to prepare for baby #2. While I’m not excited about giving birth during a pandemic, the silver-lining has been the time it’s given us to slow things down and focus on what really matters.
As for finding out we were expecting a second baby girl, I kinda already knew.. in my gut that is. I knew even before Vivienne that we’d have two girls and I always told my husband this. I don’t know how but I just felt it in my bones so when we found out baby #2 was on the way, I knew it was our second little girl. My husband is so excited about being a girl dad and truth be told, he is incredibly good at it. I love watching him with Vivienne (truly one of my favorite things of all time) and I know it will be no different with our second. I’m the one she goes to when she needs the extra hug or playing of her hair and he’s her tickle monster and go-to for pretend play. They’re both very lucky ladies to have such a wonderful man for a daddy.
I hope to share as many posts as I can about my pregnancy journey before our lady arrives so stay tuned for those. Things from what I’m packing in my hospital bag to what I plan to do differently this time around are in the works. I also hope to share her nursery but that might happen until after she’s born.
