You know those moments in life you just want to freeze for a bit and enjoy a little longer? This season of expecting our first baby during the holidays has been one of them for me. I’ve felt so hopeful and excited about the future because of this little one making us a family of three (well, 4 because Scottie is definitely a big part of our family!) that it was important for us to capture this time in our lives with Christmas pictures. I think the last time my husband and I had a professional photographer take pictures of us was our wedding day so we were definitely long overdue!
What I’m Wearing
I went back and forth with either going full glam for our pictures or keeping it casual and cozy. I like both and will probably opt for cozy next year but I just had the urge to go formal and wear a long, red gown. Don’t ask why; there really was no reason, I just felt like it 🙂 I think that’s the best advice I could give you when choosing your family Christmas card outfits. Go with what makes you feel good and what feels the most you at the moment. It’ll show if you’re wearing something you’re not comfortable in so just do what fits your family and the pictures will turn out their best.
I love getting Christmas cards but I think we’ve only sent them out twice over our 6 1/2 years of marriage. I’ve gotten to know Emily from Emily Savage Photography during shoots for the blog so naturally, I called on her for our special family Christmas card pictures. I love that she’s able to give my hubs a bit of direction – because my boo is not big on taking pictures – and also knows us ladies care about whether we’ve got lipstick on our teeth or got major flyaways happening. She somehow perfectly captures the candid moments between the “Should I put my arm here?” questions so I wanted to shout her out because I just love how these pictures turned out and I know it can be difficult to find a photographer you love and trust with the special moments of your life.
Do you guys send Christmas cards for the holidays? If you do, are you normally go casual or do you dress up for the pics? I would love to know below!
Also, in case you’re wondering, our Christmas card is from Minted and I’m always so happy with their quality. You can find the exact one here!
See you guys in my next post!
