Isn’t it funny we always start thinking about the beginning when we’ve come to the end? It’s inevitable for us to reflect. We do it at the end of relationships, on our final day of vacation, even when our favorite show ends. It’s human nature to want to relive our favorite moments or dissect what we should have done differently in a situation we didn’t like the outcome of.
Today is the last day of 2015 and true to form I’m looking back on the year. Yes it’s predictable and cheesy but what the heck, I’m a cheese ball! To start, I’m letting go of all the “resolutions” I made last New Year’s Eve. In order to move forward I can’t dwell on my shortcomings. I have new goals and new expectations for myself that I really want to focus on and holding on to the past won’t get me anywhere. Many are personal, professional, spiritual and a lot are for this blog. Below are some things I’m going to focus on in order to reach my goals and bring you better content in 2016.
Wake Up Earlier
I’ve read time and time again that successful people wake up earlier. It may not be fact (or work for everyone) but it sure can’t hurt. This one will be tough for me because I ADORE sleeping. Bring me coffee, snacks, my laptop and have FRIENDS on in the background and I could stay in bed all day! But I’m also someone who runs out of time.. every.single.day. That’s because if I don’t have to wake up early, I don’t. I’m not saying I’m going to start waking up at 5 a.m. starting tomorrow but I will start waking up 30 minutes earlier than I normally tend to do until I reach my ideal wake up time.
Reading makes you a better writer, it’s that simple. Your vocabulary expands, it opens your mind to new ideas and sparks questions and creativity. Last year I set out to read THESE 8 BOOKS and although I haven’t made my reading list for 2016 I’m excited to do so. If you’ve read any books that have changed your life, or have just been super entertaining, let me know in the comment section below!
Connect (Beyond “Likes”)
This one is more personal than anything. Because I live across the country from most of my family and friends it’s so easy to press the “like” button on posts, updates and pictures without second thought. Beyond that there’s no real engagement and I’m sad to say there’s a certain closeness and authenticity lost through social media. I’m also not a very needy person. I don’t need to talk to someone every single day to know they love me and vice versa because with me, once you’re in my “I love you” file, you’re there for life. BUUT with that being said, life happens and picking up the phone to actually speak with my loved one’s is essential and I vow to make it a priority!
Join a Class
I have been wanting to do this for quite some time now but have never really done my research. This year I want to find a dance studio! One of my passions in life is dance and for years now I have let it fall by the waste side. Not only will this be an awesome workout, but it’ll reconnect me with one of my greatest loves and something that makes me truly happy. I also want to explore something I’ve never done before, like painting or photography classes. Endless possibilities right?
When you have a lot of “to do’s” on your list you should also focus on how your going to find the time to do it all. While I want to achieve a lot in 2016, I also can’t forget to tend to the things that matter most, like my husband (that’s his cute little mug in that pic) and well, myself. It’s not selfish to schedule time for yourself, in fact it’s necessary. I hate to admit that this is one of the hardest things for me to do. For me this will start with creating a schedule and sticking to it so that whatever it is I’m doing, I’m giving it my full attention.
It wouldn’t be a New Year’s “resolutions” list without wanting to travel more on it! This one is special to me because for years I had many obstacles keeping me from traveling but 2016 will be different. My goal is to see as much as the world and travel with my husband before we have kiddos. I want to eat food I’ve never eaten and chill by the beach with a cocktail in hand all day long! As much as I want to work hard in 2016, I want to play hard too!
So what should you expect from LiveLearnLuxeIt come 2016? As you can tell you’re going to be seeing a lot more personal things on my blog. I really started making LiveLearnLuxeIt a priority last October and although I hate to say that I haven’t always been so diligent with my posts, I truly enjoy writing and interacting with you guys here on the blog and all over my social media, especially Instagram. But as time passes, we change and we evolve so although beauty will always be the main focus of my blog, you’ll be seeing a lot more lifestyle and life topics up in hurr.
With that I’m leaving you with my Top Posts of 2015! I see you guys enjoy reviews so you’ll definitely be seeing more of those as well as comparison posts!
