Lately I’ve been getting creative with pieces I already have in my closet. It’s been fun mixing, matching, and creating unexpected color combinations you wouldn’t normally think of for fall and winter. I’m typically more of a neutral lover but every now and then I do like to experiment and step outside my fashion comfort zone.
Baby blue and orange is a color combo I rarely think to pair together but have recently been obsessed with. It has such a fun, retro vibe and oddly still feels totally fall appropriate. I’ve actually had these two pieces in my wardrobe for quite some time and wanted to shoot this look last year but ran out of time. Fortunately, it still works with a bump and I was able to wear it recently for an event and snap a few pictures to share with you all.
What I’m Wearing
Aside from pairing baby blue and orange, there are a few more combos I find so dreamy. If you want to see them in action, follow me on Pinterest! I’ve seriously been going crazy over there pinning so much inspiration and that way you can see them in action (and get inspired too!). Here are a few of my current faves!
Unexpected fall color combinations to try now
Burgandy and baby pink
I have been such a fan of monochromatic looks for a long time but never thought to pair these two colors together. I love the idea of mixing a pastel shade with a stronger, deeper color to create a cohesive yet daring look. It looks so beautiful on plus I can see it as a great workwear color combination.
Baby blue and brown
This is another color combo that has retro vibes but works so well for fall and winter. I would pair the same sweater I have on in this post with brown trousers and call it a day! It’s fun and feels like you tried a little harder than you really did.
Dusty rose and olive
Two of my favorite colors collide! I love the idea of these two shades for a chic casual look. Think olive duster and bodycon dress or simple top. The two marry so well together and also bring out the deep greens of the fall season.
Violet and teal
If you’re looking to make a statement, try this unexpected fall color combination for New Years! Violet is soft and feminine but mixing it with a jewel tone like teal could really make a dress pop and beg for attention. I can also see this as an incredible top and midi skirt combo!
Violet and forest green
Keeping on with violet, if you want a more office-appropriate look, try it with a deep green shade. This color combination will especially be gorgeous around winter time and add a unique twist to the typical green + red we see everywhere during the holidays.
What unexpected fall color combination would you wear? I’d love to know your fave and if there’s a color combo I didn’t mention that I’ve got to add to my list!
Happy Wednesday loves!
