Versatile pieces are those wardrobe staples that every woman should have in her closet. They’re those timeless, classic clothing items that you can transition with from season to season. They’re essential when putting outfits together, really tie any look, and work in multiple settings.
I know for myself when fall rolls around, my mind immediately goes to chunky sweaters and over-the-knee boots. I love those fall staples but what I’m really doing is limiting myself to clothes I can only wear during fall (and winter). The fun aspect of style and fashion is finding ways to wear pieces season after season and in multiple ways.
Today I want to give you five versatile pieces for your fall wardrobe. These items can transition with you through many seasons and not look out of place. They’ll also help you create different combinations within your own wardrobe, help you save money and keep you looking on trend.

It’s a spring classic but also works wonderfully for fall. I’m wearing it over a dress but one of my go-to’s is over a flannel shirt and a cute scarf. The dark wash really helps it transition into fall and makes it such a versatile piece because it’ll still work over floral dresses, and even a cute tank and white shorts on a cool summer day. During fall pair it with dark denim or with mustard-colored anything (I love that combo!).
There’s nothing easier than throwing on a t-shirt dress and heading out the door. The one I have on is burgundy but if you opt for a neutral color you can wear over and over again throughout seasons and with different combinations. I’d say go for a 3/4 sleeve and the dress becomes even more adaptable.
My husband makes fun of peep-toe shoes because he doesn’t see the point in them. What does he know! 😉 Peep-toe booties work really well if you’re in hot weather states and want to feel like fall or if you want booties that work in spring, autumn and fall. Opt for a camel or nude color to make them even more versatile and if you’re huge on trends, sock booties are everywhere right now.
If you still haven’t added a blazer to your wardrobe, now is the time! Blazers are versatile in so many ways: they’re casual and professional, work well for spring but also for fall. They’ll get you out of a bind if you don’t know what to wear and help you look put together without really trying. I’ll be talking about a cool fall blazer trend soon so stay tuned for that but a classic, black blazer will never go out of style and look incredible on all frames.
I’m pretty sure I’ve never met a midi skirt I didn’t like. Pair them with a casual tee or an oversized sweater and you’ve created two completely different looks. I’d say have a little fun with the fabric and pick something on the metallic side but if you like to keep it clean and classic, purchase a cream or pastel shade to keep it a little exciting.
