Well, guys, we did a thing… we moved to Arizona! Truthfully, it still feels like vacation and a return to good ol’ Connecticut is coming soon but it just ain’t so. We’ve already been in the Southwest for three weeks and slowly but surely we’re finding our new rhythm as a fam in this hot, hot heat. Let me tell you it’s been an adjustment – a huge change! – but one we’ve welcomed and have been thinking of doing for a very long time.
If you didn’t know, my husband and I met at Arizona State. We also got married in Arizona – so we have a lot of history here. I also grew up here and a lot of my family still lives here (including my mama) so choosing to move to Arizona wasn’t just a draw out of a hat. The thought really started when we began thinking of having kids and when we found out Vivienne was on the way the idea turned into a concrete plan.
Of course, deciding to move across the country didn’t come with a little back and forth. Much of my husband’s family still lives in the New York area so deciding to move away wasn’t easy. I still hate the idea of being away from them, especially as Vivienne gets older, but I know the times we do see each other will be that much sweeter and special.
I’ve also made some incredible friendships, have loved getting to know so many women in the Connecticut blogging space and enjoyed my time at the Connecticut Post as their style columnist. My husband and I started our married life and welcomed our little girl in Connecticut so it will always hold a special place in our hearts.
As for my husband’s job, thankfully it was an easy transfer. He is working in the same company but instead of having to do his typical three hour commute (an hour and a half each way) into the NYC every day, he gets to drive to work and be home by 5, which we all love.
Thank you for coming along on a new adventure with my little fam and I. I love that I’ve gotten to document so many of our special moments and share them with you here. We’re so excited for this new life we get to build and I’m looking forward to bringing you along.
If you’re also from Arizona, I’d love to get to know you in the comments section below!
Until my next post!
