There’s a lot of second guessing that comes with choosing an “appropriate” office holiday party outfit. Most of us have the same questions that run through our minds, “Is this too much?” “I wonder what my boss is going to wear?” “Should I cover up a little more?” Only you can answer those questions because you know the culture and expectations of your workplace. How festive you decide to go also highly depends on what you do for work, where the office party will be, and whether your workplace allows it or not – hopefully, they do!
This outfit inspiration is great for anyone in an office-setting that perhaps won’t be going home to change. A lot of times office holiday parties happen right after the workday so it’s not possible to have a completely different outfit. You’ve got to be savvy with the items you choose and make the pieces work for you from desk to a drink or two with co-workers.
What I’m Wearing
It’s obvious the star of the outfit is the skirt. For under $70, it’s one of my current holiday favorites because it sways beautifully and shows off the different tones and sparkle when you do so. You can dress it down as I did for this look, or play up its gorgeous pleats and pops of green for the holiday season. I love the stretchy waist (for the bump, of course) but also because it keeps things comfy sitting at a desk all day to celebrating at night. And if you’re really into going with theme, pair the skirt with a red blouse for a classically chic nod to your festive spirit.
This office holiday party outfit is also a great combination of what I’m calling “party-business attire.” The skirt is obviously the “party” part of the ensemble, but I also love the color combination of the top and blazer for a work setting. If you switch out the skirt and pair the two with black slacks, you get a great everyday work outfit that also happens to be appropriate for the holiday season. As I said, it’s all about choosing pieces that work well together as much as they work apart in order to have a versatile wardrobe.
I would love to know if this is an outfit you would wear to your office holiday party? I also want to know what you do for a living and if office parties are even a thing for you? My husband is in the corporate world and his holiday parties have ranged from huge NYC galas to after workday small gatherings so I know there are a variety of scenerios.
Thanks for spending a bit of your Tuesday with me! Come back for more later this week!
